I’ve got that tickle in my throat that let’s me know I haven’t escaped the dreadful winter lurgy that has been going around the office at work ..
And all I can think is, ‘How is me getting sick going to affect my training?!’
Mr A very kindly got some Sambucol from the chemist for me to try and bust this cold in the butt, before it takes hold. Yesterday I felt the start of a sore throat and was sneezing a little, but I still went ahead and did my LISS – hill training on the treadmill at a relatively high pace.
I’m amazed to see that I burnt ~300 calories in half an hour, and I wasn’t even out of breath! There’s definitely something to be said for doing LISS correctly. I power walked just under 3km in the 30 minutes, and I would’ve walked for longer but I realllly needed to pee hahaha!
I’m going to see how I feel today and decide whether I do LISS training tonight – hopefully this Sambucol takes hold and I don’t end up too sick.
When I first started BBG, I had a goal not to miss any sessions each week – whether I did them as per the schedule was irrelevant, I only wanted to meet the recommended number of workouts a week. So if this cold means I have to miss a few sessions, I will be slightly disappointed, but what’s more important is that I listen to my body when it tells me to rest. Missing a couple of sessions is not the end of the world. If I push to workout when I need the rest, I think I’ll end up doing more damage than good.
Hope you BBG girls are smashing it this week!
